If Radio didn't play the track, how come Madonna be relevant in the American music scene? Just because it was a download hit in the US, that doesn't
make Madonna relevant, does it? That's like saying Mariah was relevant in 2001!
COADF's US sales, one of the most hyped albums of this decade, proves my point. Madonna isn't a A list music star in the US. She was, once, but now
she isn't. Plus, Hung Up had tons of promo and it only peaked at #7 (Hot 100), when sales were counting twice on the charts. It's not my thing to
hate on Madonna, but 4 Minutes' major success is mainly due to Justin Timberlake. Or at least the reason 4 Minutes can prevent TMB from
being #1 is Justin, and that's a given.
The single was a huge download hit, the album sold 2 million copies despite no radio hit, and she sold out a huge arena tour charging hundreds of dollars
per ticket. That's relevance. It says a lot that even though radio chose not to play her, people still made her album one of the bigger sellers of the
year and went out in droves to watch her perform.
