So it seems that there will be only one powerful ballad on the album and that sucks..
..I guess the rest of the ballads will be following the WBT pattern..if there are any
other actually because, judging from the reviews that we've read so far, most of the album is about club bangers and mid-tempo tracks..
It depends what you mean by "ballad". Mariah's in a whole new space creatively now. I'm sure she'll have a few ballads on
there, not just one. Even if "Bye Bye" is the only one, it's no big deal as long as the rest of the music is quality and
strong.
All for moving forwards and change.
There is definitely a change in Mariah's direction and that became obvious first with CB and then with TEOM..I'm not in the least comparing these
two albums but you don't find any "classic Mariah ballads" in them..And these ballads once upon a time used to be her trademark..And there are
people like me,call us romantic,old-fashioned,whatever,who still expect to hear Mariah belting and doing her magic in a song like that..Why does "moving
forwards" have to mean skipping those songs and just giving us the "We belong together" type of ballads? There is nothing wrong with it but, when
it comes to ballads,I want the real thing..The last time we actually heard classic Mariah ballads was in Rainbow (I'm letting aside Glitter)..And these
songs like Can't take that away or Petals or even her cover of Against all odds stand out in her catalogue, are fan and non-fan
favorites and have longevity..The ballads of 2000 and onwards lack that quality..
