Well there isn't a "still" involved; it would have to be a new one. IDJ put money into the one for "#B" and since the album didn't pan out then, I wonder how supportive they will be for "TAOLG." I don't have any faith in JD, so IDJ better be behind the song.

A manager i.e. JD can't control if a song becomes a hit or not, so you shouldn't put your faith in him. That's up to the label (CC deals, ads on iTunes, etc).

New lamb motto, blame JD for everything. He does make for a very convenient scapegoat. Maybe that's the real reason she hired him. lol

A manager i.e. JD can't control if a song becomes a hit or not, so you shouldn't put your faith in him. That's up to the label (CC deals, ads on iTunes, etc).
But the manager is the one who works with the label (among others) to create promotional plans, to negotiate deals (i.e. who finances what), and so forth. If the manager sucks or doesn't work well with the label, that can surely sink a project.

I'm seriously cringing at the thought of JD being in there with Mariah as they meet with label heads and others. I just don't see him representing her well. I'd love to be wrong.

IDJ has been very cheap with Mariah's promo in recent years (#B excluded). If they can't even be bothered to pay for a CC deal and iTunes ad, things that are standard for any major artist, JD can't be faulted for that.

^ It would depend on the circumstances. Maybe JD isn't willing to meet them halfway on something, or maybe he pushes for a different single than they want...there are all kinds of possibilities. IDJ is already upset with Mariah because of the album delays, so a manager is going to have to work extra hard to get them to give full support now.

That'll be on Mariah's side not Stevie's. Don't know why maybe she's intimidated to work with someone she's considered a legend for so long. Remember in 98 he said "We gotta work together" and she went "In my dreams". She is strange sometimes smiley: laugh

^I doubt the manager gets any say in what songs are released, that's a debate that'll go on between Mariah and the label I'd imagine. The fact that they've decided on a song that's not a JD song I'd be surprised if he has any say.

As confident as Mariah has become in some ways, I think she's still really insecure in other ways. Stevie has said multiple times he'd like to work with her, but she seems to not believe it or something. Nicki Minaj picked up on that kind of thing and used it against Mariah in their verbal sparring.

Yeah she's still super insecure. Colson and Mamakayian will start calling me Dr. Phil now, but it's true:P

BTW where IS Mamakayian? Have I been reading over her posts or has she not been here for awhile???

Good question, I haven't seen her either. A few notable people have dropped off the map quite a bit as of late.

I dont think this will have a CC Deal. I thought with CC deals, the whole thing is that CC stations get the premiere of the song. If it's gonna debut on Facebook then I dont think it'll have a CC Deal.

Notwithstanding the disagreements on correctness, where did you guys learn all this industry/managment stuff anyway? School, just picked it up along the way reading MC news, or just something you study as a hobby?
