The other thread is so long and I thought it would be nice to have a new thread for this era.

Toni is now on Motown Records, which is under IDJ meaning she and Mariah are in the same 'family' of labels! Maybe that duet will finally happen?

New Music: Toni Braxton & Babyface – ‘Hurt You’

Hurt You

Toni Braxton’s hiatus from music is officially over. The Grammy-winning singer, who had previously said she was retiring from the industry, returns with “Hurt You,” a collaboration with Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds.

The tender love ballad marks the first single off their joint album Love, Marriage & Divorce, due Dec. 3 on Motown Records.

The R&B diva and legendary producer team up on the smoldering duet, which finds Toni in top form. “God knows I never meant to hurt you/ I never meant to break your heart,” they sing on the chorus.

Light some candles and listen to their sultry song below.

Nice!

Has she said at all what made her change her mind anyway?

Toni looks stunning on the single cover btw. I just noticed that.

I absolutely love this song, I have it on daily rotation. The album better be great!

Yup she does look great.

I don't love the song, but I'm already stanning for those vocals and the potential on the other songs! I've been listening to Fairy Tale a ton lately which is an excellent song, so I have no doubt that when inspired that they can do good work. Hopefully they can put some stuff together on or near that level.

Another good update. If I knew how to post a gif of Oprah crying, I would.

It's good that she's doing R&B again, I know UAC is a small format but that's pretty much where she can carve out a niche for herself.
Exactly. Her labels should have made sure she was a staple at this format with the past 2 albums as well.

That's pretty impressive for such a low-key release like this.

Actually, I think even before her (second) bankruptcy, her career was going off the rails because she was straying too far away from that formula that worked so well for her. That classic R&B sound she delivered back in the day was so distinct and I'm glad she's finally returned to it rather than the kind of generic stuff she was doing on More Than A Woman onwards.

Libra was totally R&B though and had some songs that could've been marketed to UAC but her label at the time was so messy.

Yeah, she was lucky to get out.  Unfortunately, JoJo isn't so lucky.
